The principals of the business are Mary Diane Dawson and her husband, Albert William Dawson. Mr. Dawson, a native of Paducah, Kentucky, is a retired civil servant and a military retiree having achieved the rank of Command Sergeant Major after twenty-seven years of service with the United States Army. A native of Petersburg, Virginia, Mrs. Dawson is a retired educator having taught overseas for DODEA (Department of Defense Education Activity) for twenty-four years preceded by six years of public school teaching and college level instruction both in the U.S. and overseas. The Dawsons spent twenty-six wonderful years living abroad in the countries of Korea, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, and Japan while employed in military and civilian service. Their overseas experience was enhanced by travel to numerous European and Asian countries, to include Taiwan, Hong Kong, Italy, France, Spain, Holland, Greece, Luxembourg, England, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Azerbaijan, Bali, China, Singapore, Viet Nam, the Philippines, and Israel. Furthermore, the experience gained from living overseas in Europe and Asia, combined with extensive travel, engendered an awareness and respect for cultural diversity that can be seen in their vast collection of multi-ethnic dolls, accessories, and other items of interest acquired abroad.
